Project Overview
In 2022, a leading logistics company began using PaperEntry AI, CargoDoc integration software, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) through Deep Cognition’s partnership with Soft Freight Logic (SFL) to automate data entry into the CargoWise One system.
Processes that were previously taking 3-4 hours were now being completed in 2-3 minutes with 99% accuracy.
The case study results were measured after the client’s first month of usage.

The Problem
Labor shortages due to illness, quarantine, isolation periods, false alarms, death of loved ones and supply chain delays were among the major challenges faced in the logistics business during the pandemic.
With the rise in eCommerce sales and the import and export of essential goods such as medical supplies, the supply chain industry was under immense pressure to deliver within the specified timelines with fewer resources to cope.
One of the main challenges faced by this global supplier, while operating in three locations: Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, was the time wasted on manual operations.
Summary of the main project requirements for this logistics company:
- Automated costing processes
- Automated customs invoice
processes - Streamlined purchase order management
- Accurate cargo tracking

The Solution
With the “Great Resignation” looming, the client was unable to employ more staff or increase operating expenses.
The ordering system automatically creates and synchronizes the order with the accounting system. Therefore, the client does not need dedicated resources to enter data into its accounting system.
PaperEntry AI and the CargoDoc integration software solution allowed the client to overcome its key logistical challenges, ultimately reducing its time to process down to an average of 8 mins per purchase order.
The Implementation
Soft Freight Logic identified the key issues facing the leading logistics company, and used PaperEntry AI and CargoDoc to process customs invoices into the CargoWise One system.
CargoWise One is an integrated system that can automate many business processes but is limited to automating manual data entry. While technology can simplify operations, human interaction is still essential to keep the automation running.
Deep Cognition, together with SFL, created CargoDoc to provide solutions for greater automation and efficiency.
